I live in Lynchburg, Virginia with my husband, Phil, and two sons, Noah and Christian. Writing has always been a part of my life. I was inspired to write in fifth grade, especially, where I had a teacher that encouraged me to be creative and always complimented my work. When I had children, I started creating poems and stories for them that I later realized could be fun for any child. I have been privileged to read in several Virginia Elementary Schools, and I have been a speaker at conferences such as VEMA and Longwood College’s Summer Literary program. “Just One More Game” is my second picture book release. “Bats in the Air, Bats in My Hair” was released in 2009. My stories are often life-inspired. “Bats in the Air” was about an event that happened when I was growing up on my families farm in Red House, Virginia. One night, my cousins and I were staying with my Grandmother when we were ‘surprised’ by bats that came down from the attic into the bedroom where we were sleeping. Being girls, you can imagine the chaos that ensued. “Just One More Game” was came to life after I was attempting to get my oldest son to go to bed. He was relentlessly playing online video games when I told him it was time to turn the TV off. He begged, “Just one more game, and I will go to bed.” There was my title and the rest came fairly easily. Davey Morgan of Greenville, South Carolina made both books come to life with his clever and very colorful illustrations. He was able to take my thoughts on the books and add his own nuances to make them truly remarkable. “Just One More Game” takes you into the video game with Corey. The children reading it feel like they are experiencing it right along with him.
